Price comparison

Samsung has released Galaxy A51 on December 12, 2019 in 5 colors: prism crush, black, white, blue, and pink. Right now the price is $295 on Amazon. On the other side, Apple released iPhone SE 2020 on April 15, 2020 in 3 colors: black, white, and red (part of the campaign to help find the cure for COVID-19). It’s priced at $400 on Amazon.

Specs comparison

Display

Samsung Galaxy A51 comes with a 6.5-inch Super-AMOLED display, having a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, while the aspect ratio is 20:9, and pixel density is 405 PPI. On the other hand, iPhone SE 2020 comes with a 4.7-inch Retina IPS LCD display, having a screen resolution of 750 x 1334 pixels, the aspect ratio is 16:9, and pixel density is 326 PPI.

Design

iPhone SE 2020 has a familiar look, matching the design of the iPhone 8, complete with a home button, thick borders, and a 4.7-inch display. On the bottom of the phone is Apple’s Lightning port for charging and data transfer. There is no headphone jack. The iPhone SE comes with water and dust resistance IP67.

Samsung Galaxy A51 looks familiar when compared to other Galaxy phones, but it has its own unique design. The 6.5-inch display covers the entire display with thin bezels on all sides. There’s a hole-punch cutout for the front camera. On the bottom of the A51 is a USB-C port, and a headphone jack. Samsung didn’t include any IP rating for the A51, so you should avoid getting your phone wet.

Camera

Samsung Galaxy A51 comes with four cameras (going from ultra-wide to macro) that give flexibility for photography, but Apple’s new iPhone SE, despite only having one rear camera, has smart photography features borrowed from more expensive models such as the iPhone 11.

Configuration

iPhone SE 2020 has Apple’s A13 Bionic chipset, which is the same chipset iPhone 11 has, and a great flagship chipset. It will handle both gaming and everyday usage. SE 2020 has a standard Apple GPU that comes with A13, which is perfect for graphical effects. It comes in three variations: 3GB RAM / 64GB of storage, 3GB RAM / 128GB of storage, and 3GB RAM / 256GB of storage. Storage is not expandable on iPhone SE 2020.

Samsung Galaxy A51 has Exynos 9611, which is a great mid-class chipset. It can handle gaming and everyday usage with no problems. It also comes with a Mali-G52 MP3 GPU, which is great for graphical effects. There are 4 variations available: 4GB RAM / 64 GB storage, 4GB RAM / 128GB storage, 6 GB RAM / 128GB storage, 8GB RAM / 128GB storage. Storage capacity is not a problem on A51, as it is expandable through an SD card.

Battery and Fast Charging

Samsung Galaxy A51 comes with a 4000 mAh Li-PO battery, which will provide more than a day of usage, and a 15W fast charger.

Apple iPhone SE 2020 has a 1821mAh LI-Ion battery, which should provide a day of usage. It has an 18w Fast Charger, which will recharge your battery from 0 to 50% in just 30min.

AnTuTu Comparison

AnTuTu is a Benchmark app for android users. It gives your device an overall numerical score as well as an overall score for each test it performs. It’s useful for comparing your device’s speed and performance with other options on the market.

iPhone SE 2020 has a 492 166 AnTuTu score, while Samsung Galaxy A51 has an AnTuTu score of 179 753. There is a sizeable difference in the AnTuTu score primarily because of the CPU difference.

IOS vs Android

Apps Available on iOS vs Android

Android has more apps on Google Play, which currently has 2.5 million apps available, and Apple’s store has 1.8 million apps. Traditionally, IOS has been a more profitable platform for developers, so there has been a tendency for new apps to appear there first, but that is changing as Android’s market share continues to grow. In the U.S., iOS still leads the way, but developers around the world are increasingly targeting Android first.

Play Store still has a higher percentage of free apps than the Apple Store, but the best mobile games still land on iOS first – and they don’t always come to Androids. Ultimately, quality beats quantity, so this is a win for IOS.

Speed

Apple devices in most cases beat Android devices on speed tests that involve opening several apps one by one. However, it should be noted that the difference could be in how app developers develop their apps for Android vs. iOS. The fact that they are on both platforms does not mean their internal working is the same.

Security

Android doesn’t really have security problems. Google is just more lax than Apple about what applications it will let into its app store. The best way to keep malware off your Android gadget is to only get apps from Google Play store. Google reports that 0.16% of all apps contain malware.

iPhones are inherently more secure – because IOS is a closed system and you can’t download apps from any source other than the Apple store.

Customizability

This has always been one of Android’s major strengths. It’s very easy to customize your phone. Setting up the layout you want on your home screen and adding widgets and shortcuts is as easy as it gets.

You can set backgrounds on iOS as well, and there’s limited support for widgets, but you don’t have the same level of freedom. Android also allows you to set up third-party apps as your default options for many things that are still locked down on iOS. If you enjoy tinkering, or you want a unique, personalized look for your home screen, Android is for you.
